That's So Cool!

 THAT’S SO COOL!
Kingdom Kids devotions authorize Jesus’ LORDship over our lives.
John 15:8:  “This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples.”

“This is so much fun!” Twelve-year-old Jeremy blocked a defensive player who tried charging his quarterback.  He turned, all smiles, towards his football coach.

The football coach broke into a broad grin.  “That’s the way, Jeremy!” he said.  “Those sled drills toughened you up just in time for football season!”

Jesus was all smiles, too.  He jumped on the sled, adding His weight to the coach’s for more resistance that Jeremy pushed with his forearms.  Jeremy’s extra work to toughen up paid off.  Jeremy, his coach, and Jesus were pleased.

God the Father yelled, “That’s so cool, Jeremy!”

Papa smiles whenever His kids use the gifts that He planted inside us before we were born (Psalm 139:13-16).  He yells whenever we enjoy what He’s wired us to do.  He beams from ear-to-ear whenever those skills help us succeed at tasks He lays before us.

Work was never intended to be hard.  Work is a gift that our heavenly Father provides to give His kids purpose, satisfaction, and flat-out joy!  Besides, exercising our God-given talents is an act of worship!

People get the wrong idea about our heavenly Father being a cranky taskmaster.  Most earthly fathers draw fulfillment from watching their kids succeed.  Our heavenly Father doesn’t expect His kids to be talented at everything.  But He does love watching us utilize His gifts to enjoy and succeed at life’s many assorted activities that He’s wired to do!

Whenever God’s kids use our gifts correctly, Papa gets the glory.  No one impresses God by attempting to succeed at gifts He knows that we don’t have.

Apostle John wrote several books in the Bible using the Greek language.  As we learned before in these devotions, (like Bloody Wash Cycle) Greek is made up of words which are specific in meaning.  The Greek word for grace can either mean gift or joy.

So when we cheer, “This is so fun!” Papa joins in yelling, “That’s so cool!  That’s exactly what I created him to do!”

There’s nothing in the whole world that feels better than enjoying life while adding glory to God!  Using our God-given gifts for His purpose produces fruit—fruit that will last!  (Check out that added dimension in the lesson linked below).  At the same time, we have such fun doing what seems easy for us to do.

Heavenly Father, how awesome You made me!  Thank You that You get the glory when I’m simply doing what I love!  Empower me to bear You much fruit that lasts in Jesus’ name, Amen.
