Scripture All Good

SCRIPTURE ALL GOOD
Fourth of Kingdom Kids devotion series explaining Jesus’ LORDship over our lives.

1 Corinthians 10:11: “These things happened to them (their bodies scattered over the desert when living pagan lives) as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.”

No one and nothing transcends (is sovereign over or is more supreme than) Almighty God.  So, only He has the right to make up rules.  Yahweh directs His kingdom charges, whether they be governments, leaders, specific laws, or people.  His Word—the Bible—reveals the absolute standard to which all other benchmarks must take second place.

This fixed point-of-reference is concrete.  The Old Testament isn’t old-fashioned.  The Old Testament offers surprises to whomever reads passages pointing to Jesus’ first coming.  Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, (who hadn’t yet had the New Testament), that the Old Testament was enough.  The Old Testament was sufficient for all of life.

Check out the lesson linked below for passages that agree with Paul.

While many Old Testament regulations differ from their modern application, the values of Old Testament truths reflect Yahweh’s character.  These truths show the operation of His kingdom which applies to us.  In fact, they were written for our instruction!  The opening Scripture hints that the New Testament fulfills Old Testament prophesies.

Jesus ushered in God’s New Covenant of Grace.  Grace lavishes both the wisdom (of God) on and offers privileged gifts for Christians today.  Faith, righteousness, peace, love, and reconciliation are but a few gifts that Believers-in-Christ obtain by grace.  In fact, Romans 6:14 proclaims, “For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”

Israel is the ONLY government legislated by God on a national level.  It just makes sense that governments today pay attention to her to learn how they should also work.  Israel is the world’s prototype.  Israel stands on a hill, lit up as a template.  Yet few—if any—nations today copy Israel’s “God character.”  That is, no other nation identifies itself in Yahweh.

Take Home Nugget

Almighty God intended for Israel to show off to the world.  Other nations were supposed to copy her government.

While our heavenly father exhibits ultimate authority over His kingdom now, His Son Jesus will soon reign as King of all kings on earth.  There is no difference between individuals and nations—all are ultimately ruled by God.  People must live under His revealed authority as it applies to every area of life.   (Individual, family, church, and national).

Holy Father, I am without excuse.  You’ve provided all that we need in Your Word how to live life to the fullest.  Favor me each day at the site of Your Word.  Amen.
