Divine Governing Right Now

DIVINE GOVERNING RIGHT NOW

Isaiah 45:18:  “For this is what the Lord says—He who created the heavens, He is God; He who fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited—He says: ‘I am the Lord, and there is no other.’”

Earlier devotions, Government Building Block, and Born Again for Dominion prepared readers for this devotion to be understood personally.  Many Believers don’t dive into Scripture this far.  Many more don’t take Scripture literally [LIT-er-a-lee].  God doesn’t waste time—not to mention the time and energy of forty authors of Bible books—to write a fairy tale.
If you don’t take God’s word literally, (meaning factual, absolutely true), I recommend not wasting your time, either.  The Bible is truth.  It’s the only Book of Instruction Before Leaving Earth that answers people’s questions:  Why was I born?  What is my purpose?  Who’s in charge?  What’s my future?

The Bible’s authors were men.  But no human wrote any Scripture without authority of Almighty God.  2 Timothy 3:16-17 confirms, “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.”  Why?  “So that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Divine government establishes the pattern for human government. Remember the biology teacher Ms. Hester who only reigns inside her classroom?  Yet some students exercise dominion under her reign by taking charge of classroom assignments.  That’s a small picture of divine governing right now.
Zooming out shows the big picture: a principal is responsible for the school.  A school board manages the schools.  City, county, state and national levels of government are designed for every person to live, work and play safely and peacefully.

Every person is under governing authorities.  Plural.  That’s how God intended government to be.  God is plural.  God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit: three persons = one God.  Working under delegated authority, divine government is unified for one purpose—people’s salvation.

God authorizes His kids for divine governing right now.  Starting with self-control, we obey parents and help siblings.  We offer our talents to serve wherever we worship, joining one body of Believers in Christ.  Believers around the world make up His “Church.”
Christ reigns over Believers’ lives.  That’s what “Lord” means.
If that’s not you, perhaps being grafted into God’s family isn’t for you.  If that’s true, then eternal life isn’t for you, either.  No need staying aligned under God’s covenantal promise if you’re not interested in receiving His protection and provisions.
But if Jesus IS your Lord…
Keep me strong Lord.  Enable me to contribute to Your divine government right now to build up Your body of Believers. Amen.
