IN FACT
2nd of 7 devotions in Labor Day Rest series
Galatians 3:13
“Christ redeemed us from the curse of
the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who
is hung on a tree.’”
Praise
Jesus for taking upon Himself all curses for us! In fact, Jesus destroyed EVERY curse because He died on the cross! Jesus knew that the law says, “anyone who is
hung on a tree is under God’s curse.” (Deuteronomy
21:23). It was God’s plan for Jesus to
die on the cross specifically to become
cursed for us. Just like the Father placed all people’s sins
on Jesus, than took out His wrath on His Son as payment for our sin.
In
fact, Jesus took all curses upon
Himself so that we may receive all
His blessings.
The
moment someone accepts Jesus as Savior, several things happen: The Holy Spirit indwells that person, sealing
him for eternal life. He is adopted into
God’s family. He inherits the world, as
Jesus’ sibling—see lesson linked below. AND,
every curse is destroyed. What are some curses that Jesus
destroyed?
A
skin condition like acne causes ugly pimples on teenagers’ faces—sooo
embarrassing! Eczema is itchy red
pimples that erupt on exposed skin and look awful. Innocent looking ground plants can produce
blisters that are itchy, fill with poison and are also contagious.
Diseases
like muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis have no cure. The disease progresses and people become
disabled. Cancer scares everybody. Drug companies get rich inventing new meds
that treat the latest unheard-of ailments popping up every day!
Sigh.
Now
you’re tasting the profound disappointment God felt after Adam sinned. (All Caps SIGH)! He knew how exhaustively sin would infect
earth—penetrating all things. It takes
faith and trust to believe what can’t be seen.
Can you believe in God? In
Jesus? Do you believe that you’re going
to heaven—a place you’ve never seen?
Do
you believe that God forgave you from all your sins by Jesus’ shed blood on the
cross? That’s the power of Jesus’ blood! In fact, Jesus said, “It
is finished.” while hanging on the cross right before He died.
Jesus
knew that He fulfilled everything His Father entrusted, and His job was
finished.
Take
Home Nugget
Jesus
wasn’t joking. His shed blood forgave every
sin, destroyed every curse and fulfilled
every law and prophecy.
The
Father was pleased with Jesus’ finished work.
Manifest means something seen.
Try saying aloud, “Because I believe Jesus, I am blessed!” every day. In fact, when we refuse a curse aloud in
Jesus’ name, and confess this, God will manifest your blessing.
Praise
God that believers can claim new blessings through Jesus’ shed blood and
finished work on the cross!
