Perfect From Suffering

PERFECT FROM SUFFERING

Fourth of twelve parts in Breathtaking Promise series

Hebrews 2:10:  “In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.”

Why is this happening? devotion said, “The thing is that hardship and suffering are tools that God uses to shape His kids.  What we hate will likely be the very thing He uses to hone His character in us.”  This warned us that developing godly character isn’t easy.

The opening Scripture specifically says that Jesus, the author of our salvation, was made perfect through suffering!  I’m sorry to break it to you why suffering is necessary to achieve perfection: Jesus LEARNED obedience through suffering.

Are we any different?  There are many kinds of people.  Some learn things the first time.  Others are hard-headed—or God’s term stiff-necked—identifies those who need discipline in order to learn obedience.  Jesus learned to obey the first time He was commanded.  And STILL He had to suffer to be made perfect.

Jesus is the “Son who learned obedience from what He suffered and, once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.” (Hebrews 5:8-9).  Evidently, suffering kicks spiritual learning into gear.

            That stinks, God!

Complain all you want, God has His reasons:

When people suffer, battling adversity, we LEARN!  We gain experience, absorbing crucial lessons during adversity.  Learning critical lessons fulfill important character-building traits that apply to one’s purpose in life.  (Having a relationship with Almighty God is people’s purpose in life—according to God’s Plan devotion).

Although sinless, suffering still factored into Jesus’ learning curve toward perfection.  Thus, He became the “captain” of salvation for many sons (and daughters) added to His Family!
Let’s not freak out.  This suffering thing only lasts as long as it takes for people to get it.  Obedience is the “it.”  Suffering only lasts as long as it takes people to learn obedience.

Unfortunately, though, we see terrible suffering, misery, and unsolvable problems in the world today.  Mankind’s suffering is no accent.  Mass suffering—including innocent children—around the world is because we’re cut off from God.

See the lesson linked below for reasons why we’re cut off from God, but how Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters.  Now, Jesus serves as our high priest at the Father’s right hand.

Take Home Nugget

Human’s allotted time under Satan’s control will soon be over.  Then ALL human beings will be taught their awesome potential.  God’s mercy will soon eliminate all suffering forever!

What comfort, Lord, it is to hear that this awful suffering, including my own, will end one day soon.  Come, Lord Jesus!  Amen.
