LET’S GO!
Mark 4:35-41
James 2:19: “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”
Watching the sunset behind people leaving, Jesus said to His disciples, “Let’s go!”
“Okay,” Peter replied. “Where to?”
“Let’s go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee,” Jesus explained while climbing into the boat. He grabbed the docking rope and steadied the boat. His disciples climbed in and claimed their seats on board both port and stern sides.
“Tell us the meaning of the mustard seed parable, Master,” Andrew said when he was seated. (See the lesson linked below).
Jesus allowed them to settle before beginning, “The kingdom of heaven begins now, gentlemen. Yet, twelve men seem insignificant.”
“Just like the tiny mustard seed?” Andrew asked.
“Exactly, Andrew!” Jesus smiled before continuing, “I teach about the kingdom of heaven. So far, people are confused: Sadducees teach the wrong message, and the Pharisees won’t listen, refusing to take Me seriously.”
James scoffs, “They hate You!”
“They reject My message,” Jesus clarified James’ point. “But you twelve—My brothers—are learning that the kingdom of heaven is all about your salvation!”
John nodded his head, admitting: “You came to convince us that Our Father is the good guy, looking out for our best in life!”
Jesus said, patting John’s hand, “That’s right, John! Both now and forever in the next life, Dad wants the very best for everyone. From you twelve, the whole world will learn this good news. People will gather together hungering for more and our Father’s kingdom will never stop growing!”
Peter said, “And we’ll witness Yahweh’s greatness and power!”
“You got it!” Jesus yawned. “I’m drained, guys. Please wake Me when we land on the other side?”
As soon as Jesus went to sleep, the calm sea awoke. Waves grow to twice their size and pounded the small boat. Peter quickly lowered the sail and rowed harder to maintain course direction. The fierce wind buffeted the boat wherever it wanted like it was throwing a party!
“Wake up, Master!” Peter screamed, shaking Jesus awake.
“We’re going to drown!”
Take Home Nugget
Jesus opened His eyes. He saw the raging storm and ordered, “Be still!”
Immediately, the sea obeyed His command.
Immediately, the sea obeyed His command.
“Why were you so afraid? Jesus asked the men. “Where is your faith?”
“Who IS this Jesus? Even nature obeys Him,” Peter wondered aloud to the eleven.
Andrew shrugged his shoulders and said, “All I know is that I’d rather be with Him in ANY trouble or storm! Wouldn’t you?”
Heavenly Father, You never said that our lives would be easy. But regardless of the storms we’re forced to grow through, You’re with us. AND You always promise a safe landing! Hallelujah!
