8TH DAY—FINAL JUDGMENT
Seventh of eight devotions in What God’s Festivals Teach series
Revelation 20:11-12: “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was sitting on it. Earth and sky fled from His presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according what they had done, as recorded in the books.”
The number seven is Biblical completeness. God created the world in seven days. Seven is in the natural. The first day after finishing creation is blessed by God, a commanded Sabbath day of rest. Biblical eight is supernatural.
The 8th Day is God’s last of seven commanded Holy Days from Leviticus 23. These Feasts predict fulfillment only through Jesus Christ.
The Passover displays supernatural protection of God’s elect. Christ is the last Passover Lamb, and He offers redemption to all. Unleavened bread reminds us that only Christ can lead us out of sin. Pentecost proclaims the power of God’s Spirit living within each Believer. Trumpets blast the arrival of our King. Banishing Satan for 1,000 years, our interceding [in-ter-SEED -ing] High Priest (mediating to the Father on our behalf) will tabernacle (live) among us as “King of Kings”.
Isaiah 45:23 predicts the 8th day supernatural to the Kingdom of God: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before Me, every tongue confess to God.’”
After Christ’s millennium reign, He will offer His Spirit to everyone resurrected to life from ages past. Jesus Chris will judge everyone during His 1,000 year reign on earth (John 5:26-27). The Great White Throne from the opening Scripture does not mean immediate condemnation. There will be an evaluation period when Satan is released from prison (Revelation 20:7-8).
Who will obey; who will rebel?
When the Book of Life is opened, a time is offered to receive God’s Spirit and have one’s name added to it! (Philippians 4:3). Apostle Paul tactfully brings the two from disagreement to reconciling them to Christ. Our jobs are also to encourage people to have their names included in the Book of Life. Take Home Nugget
Christ lovingly and mercifully offers multitudes of the deceived the opportunity of conversion to believe Him as Lord and Savior. Their reward, as well as that of Believers today, will reflect our lives.
Holy Father, Your 8th Day Holy Day is what I prayed for! I admit praying for the dead when I know they didn’t repent nor receive Crist before they died. Thank You for this last chance in Christ, in whose Name I pray, Amen.
