BECAUSE
HE IS RISEN
Ninth of nine devotions in Lenten Intense Series from Isaiah
53:1-12
1 Corinthians 15:20-23
1 Corinthians 15:22: “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all
will be made alive.”
Jesus
is alive. HALLELUJAH! His followers have a big brother in heaven
who…
Covers us with His righteousness. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made Him who
had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness
of God.”
This
means that we “turn sinners from the
error of their ways” so that might
save them from death. Our love for
others covers a multiple of sins. (James
5:20).
Forgives us. Colossians 2:13 says, “When you were dead in
your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful behavior, God made you alive
in Christ. He forgave us all our sins.”
This
means that we “forgive men when they
sin against us,” so that our heavenly Father will forgive our sins. (Matthew 6:14-15).
Intercedes for us.
Isaiah 53:12: “Therefore I will
give Him a portion among the great, and He will divide the spoils with the
strong, because He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the
transgressors. For He bore the sin of
many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”
This means that we request, pray, intercede and thank God for everyone so that we may live quiet and peaceful
lives in all godliness and holiness. “This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
who wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
“For
there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ,”
verse 5.
Raises us. “But each in his own turn: Christ, the
firstfruits: then when He comes, those who belong to Him.” (1 Corinthians 15:23). Therefore, we encourage one other with these words so that our spirits remain high.
The
risen Jesus is actively involved in our lives.
We just learned that believers also are to be actively involved in
others’ lives. God’s blessings aren’t
meant for one person, they’re supposed to be passed on as blessings to
others.
Take Home Nugget
In
The Cross devotion, Jesus instructs
that anyone who comes after Him must deny self, pick up his cross and follow
Him. We learned that death to self means
to put others and their needs before our own.
The “cross” people carry could be sickness, heartache, helping others in
trouble, even loving the unlovable.
“Therefore, my dear
brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move
you. Always give yourselves fully to the
work of the Lord, because you know that your labor is not in vain.” 1
Corinthians 15:58
